THE POSITION: We are looking for sales assistant to work at our busy summertime farmers' markets (with possibility of extension for the right candidate).

Must be available and able to work at the following farmers' markets:

  • Evergreen Brickworks, Saturdays 8am - 1pm
  • Leslieville Farmers Market, Sundays 9am - 2pm
  • Sorauren Farmers Market, Mondays 3pm - 7pm

You must arrange your own transportation to/from the market locations.

Salary starting at $16.00 per hour


  • Sales of Tapioca Toronto products and food at farmers' markets.
  • Taking customer orders and communicating them to the cook.
  • Packing customer orders of pre-made items/drinks/etc.
  • Using POS for card payments and cash handling.
  • Helping to manage market supply inventory .
  • Assisting in market set-up, tear down, and signage.
  • Communicating Tapioca Toronto business values to customers and customer feedback.


    • Food handling certificate.
    • Experience using POS system (Square) and in cash handling.
    • Experience in a customer sales role (at a market or similar setting is an asset).
    • Strong customer-relation and communication skills.
    • Early morning person with energy and enthusiasm.
    • Familiar with vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free diets and food.
    • Strong passion for organic, seasonal, and local food.
    • Knowledge of food handling health and safety rules.
    • A team player with excellent communication skills.
    • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
    • Is capable of managing a highly physical position including standing for 5 hours, and in varied working conditions (rain or shine).
    • Is comfortable with outdoor manual labour and able to lift up to 30lbs
    • Basic fluency in Portuguese/Spanish is an asset though not required.


    THE POSITION: We are looking for morning baker/prep cook to work morning shifts (6am-1pm) during our busy summer season (with possibility of extension after that).

    • Hourly wage $17-19/hour.


    • Kitchen experience is a must.
    • Weekend availability.
    • Early morning person with energy and enthusiasm for the work.
    • Familiar with vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free and traditional baking and food preparation.
    • Strong passion for cooking with organic, seasonal, and local ingredients.
    • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
    • A team player with good communication skills.
    • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
    • Training from a culinary school will be an asset.
    • Reliable, creative, and passionate about creating good food.
    • Basic fluency in Portuguese/Spanish is an asset though not required.


    • Prepare ingredients for farmers markets, like fillings for tapioca crepes or toppings for tamales.
    • Follow recipes and baking instructions for simple baked goods like quiches, empanadas, cookies, muffins, and more.
    • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
    • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
    • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
    • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
