Tapioca Toronto was started in 2013 by Rafael Mendes when given an opportunity to cook and sell at Dufferin Grove Farmers' Market. He began cooking Tapioca Crepes as a way to bring the food of his hometown in Brasil to Canada after noticing a lack of traditional Brasilian foods available in the market.
With a passion for supporting other local, small-time food makers and producers, Tapioca Toronto sources as much as possible from fellow farmers' market farmers and vendors.
Our food brings a bit of our home culture of Brazil to the table, and we are excited to bring the fusion of fresh local ingredients with an exotic twist.
Tapioca crepes have have a unique, chewy texture and can be filled with a variety of ingredients. This food is naturally gluten-free and is cooked using organic ghee or coconut oil. Filling combinations may include ingredients like eggs, cheese, tomatoes, asparagus, spinach, kale, green onions and seasonal vegetables. Sweet fillings may include jams, chocolate and seasonal berries and fruits.
Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are always available.
Our rotating selection of snacks and bites are made fresh in-house and use organic, locally sourced and whole-food ingredients. From our famous cheese buns, empanadas, and freshly prepared bagels, come by and try it yourself!
